Cancer occurs when changes called mutation takes place in genes that regulate cell growth. The mutations let the cells divide and multiply in an uncontrolled way.
Breast cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malignant cells in the breasts. It's the most common cancer in women, although it can also develop in men.
The cancer forms in either the lobules or ducts of the breast.lobules are the glands that produce milk and ducts are the pathways that bring the milk from the glands to the nipple. Cancer can also occur in the fatty tissue or the fibrous connective tissue within your breast.
The uncontrolled growth often invade other healthy tissue and can travel to the lymph nodes under the arms. The lymph nodes are a primary pathway that help the cancer cells move to other parts of the body.
The exact cause of breast cancer is unknown, but some women have a higher risk than others. This includes women with personal or family history of breast cancer and women with certain gene mutation.
After puberty,a woman's breast consists of fats connective tissue, and thousands of lobules. These are tiny glands that produce milk for breast feeding. Tiny tubes,or ducts carry the milk toward the nipple. cancer causes the cells to multiply uncontrollably. They do not die at the usual point in their life cycle. This excessive cell growth causes cancer because the tumor uses nutrients and energy and deprives the cells around it.
Common Symptoms of Breast Cancer.
In it's early stages, breast cancer may not cause any symptoms. In many cases,a tumor may be too small to be felt, but an abnormality can still be seen on a mammogram.if a tumor can be felt, the first sign is usually a new lump in the breast that was not there before. However, not all lumps are cancer .
The first symptoms of breast cancer usually appear as an area of thickened tissue in the breast or a lump in the breast or an armpit.
Each type of cancer can cause a variety of symptoms.many of these symptoms are similar, but some can be different. symptoms for the most common breast cancer include:
I. A breast lump or tissue thickening that feels different than surrounding tissue and has developed recently.
II. Breast pain.
III. Red,pitted skin over your entire breast.
IV. Swelling in all or part of your breast.
V. A nipple discharge other than breast milk.
VI. Bloody discharge from your nipple.
VII. Peeling, scaling or flacking of skin on your nipple or breast.
VIII. Inverted nipple.
IX. Changes to the appearance of the skin on your breast
X. A lump or swelling under your arm.
If you have any of these symptoms,it doesn't necessarily mean you have breast cancer. For instance, pain in your breast or a breast lump can be caused by benign cyst. Still,if you find a lump in your breast or have other symptoms, you should see your health consultant for further examination and testing.
